Connect Instagram Messages

Three things, all in the Instagram app on your phone, on the account you're connecting:

1. A professional account.
2. Linked to your Facebook Page. Go to Profile → Edit profile → Page (under Public business information), sign in with the Facebook account that manages your Page, and choose the Page. You need full control of the Page. You can also link it from Facebook: your Page → Settings → Linked accounts.
3. Allow access to messages, turned on. Go to Profile → menu (☰) → Messages and story replies → Message controls, and under Connected tools turn on Allow access to messages. It's only in the phone app — Instagram's website doesn't have this switch.

1. In the left rail, open Extensions → Connectors and press Connect on the Instagram Messages card.
2. Sign in to Facebook and pick the Page your Instagram is linked to.
3. Allow PropKaki to read and answer your DMs. It never posts.

Done. The card's button now reads Manage, and the card shows your @username.

This brings in your Instagram DMs only. Your Page's Messenger conversations are the Facebook Messenger card, and your lead forms are Meta Lead Ads.

Everyone who DMs your account lands in your Inbox with their name — and their Instagram username, so you can tell who is who — and you reply from the reply box there. Once the first one arrives, Instagram Chats appears in the Inbox's channel filter.

DMs come in from the moment you connect. A photo they send shows as the picture, and a file as a card you can open; both are kept in Workspace → Files as From a Client. Videos, voice messages, stickers and shared posts or reels still show as a one-line note and stay in Instagram; so does a photo that can't be kept, as 📷 Photo. A reply you send from the Instagram app shows in the conversation here too.

To answer one DM in particular, right-click it or long-press it and press Reply: it arrives quoted in Instagram. The same menu reacts with ❤️, the one reaction PropKaki sends on Instagram. Their reactions show under the message. Once they have read yours, its ✓ turns blue ✓✓, with Seen under the newest. Instagram never says a message arrived, so there is no grey ✓✓ in between.

If someone unsends a message on Instagram, PropKaki deletes its copy as well.

24 hours from the last message they sent you on Instagram. Inside that window your reply goes straight out, and costs 1 credit.

After 24 hours Meta will not take a reply from PropKaki — nothing is sent, and nothing is charged — and Instagram has no approved templates to fall back on the way WhatsApp does. The reply box tells you in one line:

[Their name] hasn't written on Instagram in 24 hours, so Meta won't let you send a message.

Press Copy the Message to keep what you wrote. The only thing that reopens the conversation is a new message from them — and then you have another 24 hours.

The clock is that Instagram conversation's own. A WhatsApp message or an email from the same person does not restart it.

No. PropKaki sends a message on Instagram only when you send a reply yourself. Nothing on this channel is sent automatically, and the assistant does not answer there.

So each conversation waits for you, and you have 24 hours to answer it. Turn on an alert for new messages and it tells you when one lands, with their name and a short quote of what they wrote. The first DM from someone new also raises a New Lead alert, if you have one switched on.

The card tells you which it is.

• Your Page has no Instagram account linked. There are no DMs to connect until it is. In the Instagram app, go to Edit profile → Page, choose the Page, then connect again.
• No Page came back that you can manage messages on. Instagram connects through the Page it's linked to — ask whoever manages that Page to give you full access, then connect again.
• That Instagram account is already connected to another PropKaki account. It connects to one PropKaki account, so it can't be connected here too.
• Facebook signed you out. This shows on a card that was working. Press Fix and connect again.

Open the card from Extensions → Connectors and disconnect it. It asks you first, and says exactly this:

New DMs will stop arriving in your Inbox. Your conversations will still be here.

To remove a conversation from PropKaki too, use Delete Chat on it. Meta keeps its own copy in Instagram, which PropKaki cannot delete.
