Why did my assistant stop answering a chat?

Updated 17 October 2026

The Short Answer

Because you replied in it. When you reply to a client yourself, every assistant goes quiet in that one chat, and picks up again 1 hour after your last message once the client writes. Change it in Configure Assistants → When You Reply, or turn Pause When I Reply off.

It is on for every account, including assistants set up before it existed.

Why did it go quiet?

When you reply to a client yourself, your assistant stops answering that one chat, so you and it never talk over each other. Every other chat carries on.

This is on for every account, including assistants set up before it existed: Pause When I Reply on, and Resume After I Stop Replying at 1 Hour.

When does it start answering again?

It is counted from your last message in that chat. Once that time has passed, the client's next message is answered. It waits for the client to write; it never sends anything first.

If you reply again, the time starts again from that message.

How do I change it?

Open Extensions → Reply Assistants → ⋯ → Configure Assistants and scroll to When You Reply, under For Every Mode. It is one setting for every mode.

Resume After I Stop ReplyingWhat happens
30 Minutes · 1 Hour · 2 Hours · 4 HoursAnswers again that long after your last message
Until TomorrowAnswers again from midnight in Singapore
NeverOnce you reply, that chat is yours — your assistant stays out of it.

Turn Pause When I Reply off and it keeps answering, even after you reply. Press Save.

What counts as my reply?

A message you type to that client counts: from your phone on your WhatsApp line, or from your Inbox. Messages from Prospecting and automations do not count, and do not pause anything.

It goes chat by chat: replying to a client on WhatsApp does not pause their chat on My Page.

I picked Never — can I bring it back for one chat?

There is no switch inside a chat. Change Resume After I Stop Replying from Never to a time — 30 Minutes, say — and any chat where your last message is older than that is answered again from the client's next message.

To silence one client for good, give them their own row and switch it off — see Turn your bot off for one conversation.

Still Stuck?

Ask PropKaki in the chat — it answers most of these directly — or message the team.
