Turn your bot off for one conversation

Updated 1 September 2026

The Short Answer

In the conversation itself you can stop your bot answering that one person. Everyone else keeps getting the bot as normal. Use it when a deal gets sensitive and every reply should be yours.

Sometimes you want the bot for everyone except one person.

How do I silence it for one person?

Open the conversation in Chats and switch the bot off for that person.

It stops answering them. Everyone else on the line is unaffected.

When is that worth doing?

When a conversation reaches the point where a wrong word costs something — a price being negotiated, a client who has become difficult, anything you would not want answered while you slept.

It is a smaller and safer move than turning the whole line off.

What is the difference from turning the line off?

This stops the bot for one client.

The line switch stops it for everyone who writes to that number. See How do I turn my bot off?

Can I turn it back on for them?

Yes. Switch it back on in that conversation and the bot resumes for that person from their next message.
