Pin or archive a conversation

1. In your Inbox, right-click the conversation — or long-press it on a phone.
2. Press Pin to hold it at the top of the list, or Archive to move it out of the list.
3. To see what you archived, press the Archived row above your chats. It shows how many there are — 2 chats — and the back arrow takes you to the Inbox.
4. To undo either one, open the same menu and press Unpin or Unarchive.

It worked when the pinned conversation sits at the top of your Inbox, or the archived one has left the list and shows under Archived.

Holds it at the top of your Inbox, however long ago they last wrote. It changes only the order — nothing about the conversation itself.

Use it for the two or three deals actually in play.

Takes it out of the main list and puts it under Archived. The conversation, the history and the person are all still there — it has stopped competing for your attention.

An archived conversation raises no New Message alert, and its unread count shows in grey on the Archived row instead of adding to your Inbox's.

Someone who went quiet for six months and is now back in play: right-click the conversation under Archived and press Unarchive to put it back in your Inbox.

No. Neither pinning nor archiving touches the conversation, the person or your record of what was said.

The one that removes is separate: Delete Chat…, the last item in the same menu, in red.

Right-click a conversation in your Inbox, or long-press it, and press Mute. Its time and unread dot go grey, and your New Message alert stays quiet for that conversation; the dot still shows, so you can see something new came in. Unmute in the same menu undoes it.
