Why do I need a template to message someone?

WhatsApp lets you reply freely to anyone who messaged you in the last 24 hours. After that, it will only deliver a message whose wording has already been approved.

The clock restarts every time they write to you.

With two WhatsApp numbers the 24 hours count per number: someone who messaged Work today has not messaged Personal, so a reply from Personal waits for Meta — Marcus hasn’t written to your Personal number, so Meta approves this first — usually within a day.

Nothing goes out as written, because WhatsApp would not deliver it. PropKaki asks instead: Meta needs to approve this first. Press Send Once Meta Approves and:

1. Your message goes to Meta exactly as you wrote it.
2. It waits in the conversation as Waiting for Meta’s approval, with Cancel.
3. It goes from your number the moment it's approved — usually within a day — and shows Sent as a template.

On a group send, the people who wrote in the last 24 hours get it now and the rest follow once approved. You are charged when a message goes, not while it waits.

• They write to you first. The waiting message is cancelled: [name] wrote to you, so your waiting message didn’t go. Reply here — it’s free and it’s yours to write.
• Meta refuses it. It says Meta didn’t approve this, with Meta’s reason, Edit and Resubmit and Send It Myself.
• Meta never answers. After a week it is dropped and you are told: Meta never answered, so it didn’t go.

No. This is a WhatsApp rule. Email has no window at all — you can email a prospect who last spoke to you a year ago.

That is sometimes the quicker answer than waiting for a template.
