Ask for contact details before a guide opens

Updated 6 September 2026

The Short Answer

Turn on Ask For Contact on any guide and a reader gives their name and number before it opens. The card then reads Get the Guide instead of Read, so nobody is surprised by a form. Their details arrive as a lead with a note saying which guide they wanted.

This is off on every guide until you turn it on, one guide at a time.

How do I switch it on?

For a guide already on your page: Configure Page → Guides, and the switch sits just before the bin on that row. It reads back Ask For Contact On or Ask For Contact Off.

When adding a new one, it is the third cell on the row in Add a Guide, next to the file and the title: Readers give their name and number before this guide opens.

It is per guide. A new guide is always off, so nothing changes on the guides you have unless you go and change it.

What does the reader see?

The card changes 1 word: Get the Guide where an open guide says Read. That is deliberate — pressing Read and meeting a form is a small bait-and-switch.

Pressing it opens a box titled Get the Guide, with Enter your details below to access the guide., fields for their name and number, and above the button the line your name will contact you about this enquiry. Then the guide opens in a new tab.

Where do the details go?

The same place a lead from a conversation goes. It arrives in Chats as a person and becomes a contact you can message, and you get the same lead alert you already get.

The note on it reads Asked for: and the guide's title — so you know not just that someone is interested, but in what.

Does it ask the same person twice?

No. Once someone has given their number, every other guide on your page opens with a single press.

Someone who already gave their number chatting to your assistant is not asked at all — it is the same question, so it is not put twice.

Should I turn it on?

It is a trade, and worth making deliberately. An open guide travels: it gets forwarded, screenshotted and shared in group chats, and you never see who read it. A guide that asks gets read by fewer people, and you get every one of their numbers.

A reasonable split is to leave a short market update open and ask on the one that took you a week to write.

Still Stuck?

Ask PropKaki in the chat — it answers most of these directly — or message the team.
