Does an automation send messages without me?

The Short Answer
Only one of the four approval levels sends without you, and it is called Send Automatically. The other three stop and wait — Notify Only tells you, Confirm Before Drafting asks before writing, and Approve Before Sending writes the drafts and holds them. New automations arrive on Confirm Before Drafting.
This is the first thing everyone wants to know, so here is the plain answer with the control that decides it.
What are the four levels?
In the panel beside the list, the setting is Approval:
- Notify Only — you are told someone is due; nothing is written unless you ask for it.
- Confirm Before Drafting — it asks you first, and writes the drafts when you say go.
- Approve Before Sending — drafts are written and wait for your approval before sending.
- Send Automatically — messages send by themselves; you are told after, not before.
Only the fourth reaches a client without you.
Which one do I start on?
Confirm Before Drafting. Every new automation arrives on it, including the four PropKaki sets up for you.
It is the cheapest of the four as well as the safest: nothing is written until you say go, so an automation you ignore for a week costs you nothing at all.
How can I see at a glance which of my automations send by themselves?
Look at the status pill on the right of each row in Extensions → Automations.
- Draft — switched off.
- Live — running, and it will stop for you.
- Sends Itself — running, and it will not.
Sends Itself is drawn in a caution colour precisely so you never have to open a row to find out.
Can I change my mind after turning one on?
Yes. Open the row and change Approval — it applies from the next run onwards.
Anything already drafted and waiting stays waiting. Changing the level does not send it and does not delete it.
