Does an automation send messages without me?

The Short Answer
Only if you set it to Send Automatically. The other three levels stop for you: Notify Only tells you someone is due, Confirm Before Drafting asks before writing, and Approve Before Sending writes the drafts and waits. New automations, and all 35 on Browse, start on Confirm Before Drafting.
One setting decides it, and it covers every step in the sequence.
What are the four levels?
The four levels, and what each one does:

Only the last one reaches a client without you, and one level covers every step.
Where do I set it?
Two places, one setting:
- In Extensions → Automations, click the automation. The panel's last field, It Checks With You, holds the level, with the channel it asks you on beneath it.
- In the editor, click the box after the last step. Its panel, Before It Sends, holds Approval and Run On — Telegram or WhatsApp, where PropKaki asks you.
Run On is never how your clients are reached; each step's How It Goes Out decides that.
Which one does a new automation start on?
Confirm Before Drafting. Every automation you build starts there, and every one of the 35 sequences on Browse is written on it — none of them ships on Send Automatically. Each one also arrives switched off.
The level also decides when credits are used. On Notify Only and Confirm Before Drafting, nothing is used until you say yes. On Approve Before Sending and Send Automatically, the drafts are written when the automation runs, so the credits go then.
How can I see which of mine send by themselves?
Look at the pill on the right of each row in Extensions → Automations:
- Draft — switched off.
- Live — running, and it stops for you.
- Sends Itself — running on Send Automatically, and the one pill drawn in a caution colour.
The line under the row's name says it too — It Sends Without You — and when the level is Send Automatically, its control in the panel carries a small caution dot.
Is there anything that never sends by itself?
Three things wait for you even on Send Automatically:
- A step whose How It Goes Out is Leave It In The App — you send that one yourself.
- A WhatsApp step that goes as a normal message, for anyone who has not written to you in the last 24 hours. It becomes a link you open yourself, and the turn-on check counts how many. A Use Template step sends them your template instead, once Meta has approved it.
- An On Command automation run by typing its command. It goes straight to drafts, and it will not send anything you have not seen.
Does a reply stop it?
Yes. By default a reply stops the sequence for that person, so nobody who has answered you gets the later steps.
The switch is Stop sending once reply received, on the last box in the editor. Turn it off and the editor warns With this off, someone who answers still gets the rest of the sequence., and the row's line adds Keeps Going After A Reply. If you see that on a row you did not expect, press Edit, click the last box, and switch it back on.
Can I change the level after turning it on?
Yes. Change it under It Checks With You at any time. Like any change to a running automation, it switches the automation off — its pill goes back to Draft — so you turn it on again and see the check for the new level before anything runs.
Until you do, it sits under the Off tab, and the switch on its row is how you bring it back.
