How do I delete a file, or get one back?

The Short Answer
Delete moves a file to Trash and shows an Undo, so it does not ask first. To see what is in there, open Show → Status → Trash — you can restore anything from that list. Delete Forever is the only one that asks you to confirm, because it is the only one that cannot be undone.
Deleting is reversible, so it does not interrupt you. The one that is not reversible does.
How do I delete a file, or get one back?
- In the left rail, open Workspace → Files.
- Open the file's ⋯ menu (or right-click it) and choose Delete. It does not ask; the file moves to Trash.
- Changed your mind straight away? Press Undo on the line that says it moved to Trash.
- Later, open the Show pill, then Status, then Trash.
- Open the file's ⋯ menu there and choose Restore.
The file leaves the Trash list and is back where it was, with its name and its folder intact.
How do I see what is in Trash?
Open the Show pill, then Status, and pick Trash. The number beside Trash tells you how many files are in it before you open it.
It is one of the 3 places under Status — Recent, Sent, Trash — and you look at one at a time. All, at the top of the menu, takes you back to everything else.
Can I restore or delete several at once?
Yes. Tick the files and use the bar that appears: outside Trash it offers Move To… and Delete; inside Trash, Restore and Delete Forever.
Inside Trash, a button at the top empties the whole of it at once. It asks first, like Delete Forever.
How do I delete something permanently?
Open Trash, open the file's ⋯ menu and choose Delete Forever.
This is the one that asks you to confirm, because it is the one that cannot be undone. The question names the file — Delete "<its name>"? — and says what goes with it; when nothing else does, it says This can't be undone.
Does deleting a file break a message I already sent?
Delete does not: a message you already sent stays exactly as it was, and Restore brings the file back whole.
Delete Forever does, and it tells you before you confirm. If you sent the file, the question says so — for example Sent to 2 people. The record of the send stays, but the file won't open. If the file is used somewhere else in PropKaki, it names where it will also be removed from.
