How do I delete a file, or get one back?

The Short Answer
Delete moves a file to Trash and shows an Undo, so it does not ask first. To see what is in there, open Show and pick Trash — you can restore anything from that list. Delete Forever is the only one that asks you to confirm, because it is the only one that cannot be undone.
Deleting is reversible, so it does not interrupt you. The one that is not reversible does.
How do I delete a file?
Use Delete on the row.
It does not ask. The file moves to Trash and an Undo appears — because a question about something reversible is a question not worth asking.
How do I see what is in Trash?
Open the Show pill and pick Trash.
It is one of the 4 places — Everything, Recent, Sent, Trash — and you look at one at a time.
How do I get a file back?
Open Trash, find the file, and restore it.
It returns to where it was, with its name and its folder intact.
How do I delete something permanently?
Open Trash and use Delete Forever.
This is the one that asks you to confirm, because it is the one that cannot be undone. The bytes go.
Does deleting a file break a message I already sent?
No. A message you already sent stays exactly as it was, with its attachment intact.
Deleting removes the file from your shelf. It does not reach back into anybody's inbox.
